Ghirondi, Mordecai Samuel
(1799-1852)
   Italian scholar and biographer. He was born in Padua and taught theology at the rabbinical college there; he became the city's chief rabbi in 1831. His writings include a biographical dictionary of Jewish scholars and rabbis.
